When grouping characters together, you start to realize how important each individual is to construct a larger picture. Sometimes their edges align, and sometimes they just work on their own. Sometimes they get lucky. And other times they try and stick but for whatever reason, they were placed incorrectly or you don't like their relationship to other characters and you have to pull them off. They become damaged. Those characters don't get a second chance. It's not because we don't care about them, we all understand and agree that there are other characters that need sticking. And who wants the memory of something that can't stick.
